Man airlifted to hospital after snowmobile accident
ONTONAGON COUNTY — A Wisconsin man was airlifted to the hospital after the snowmobile he was driving disregarded a stop sign and struck a vehicle.
The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident just after 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Authorities say Gene Zettler of New Richmond, Wisc., was riding a 2013 Arctic Cat snowmobile on Trail No. 8, when he failed to stop at a stop sign on Gem Hill Road.
Zettler’s sled hit a vehicle that was making its way through the intersection. The collision caused the vehicle to spin 180 degrees and hit the back of the snowmobile.
Zettler was taken to Aspirus Grand View and later airlifted to Aspirus Wausau for treatment of a serious leg injury.
