Interim Police Chief sworn-in
ISHPEMING — Last month, we reported that Ishpeming Police Chief Dan Willey was leaving the department to become the next undersheriff of Marquette County. While the City of Ishpeming searches for Willey’s replacement, they have an interim chief to serve in Willey’s place until a new one is hired.
Detective Sargent Chad Radabaugh was sworn-in Tuesday afternoon as Ishpeming’s top cop. Radabaugh has been with the department for eight years.
Former Chief Willey recommended him to city manager Mark Slown to run the department for the time being.
“I just want to bring the community together, stick to what we’re doing and do the best we can as myself and the other officer protect the City of Ishpeming,” said Radabaugh. I’ve been a cop for overall for almost 12 years. It’s a position and a place that I’ve grown to love and I’m ready to take over wherever they need.”
“Dan Willey leaves some tall boots to fill,” said Slown. “We’re trying to find the best chief we can. In the interim, Chad is filling in for Dan and I’m sure he will do a great job.”
Slown says Radabaugh is one of the candidates being considered for the permanent position.
