Angel Mission collecting winter coats for Yoopers in need
CALUMET– Donations are being accepted for an annual coat giveaway.
Winters can be brutally cold in the Copper Country, imagine not having a good coat? The New Beginnings Angel Mission is once again collecting donations of warm coats, hats, gloves, boots and other winter apparel for people of all ages. The Angel Mission has been doing this for over ten years.
Bazin said, “Everybody starts asking now when the coat giveaway will be and how soon we can get winter coats and it’s starting to get cold again.”
The apparel will be given to those who need it for free on October 29 that the CLK Schools Multipurpose Room in Calumet. Coats will also be given away on November 5 that the Portage Lake United Church in Houghton. The second coat giveaway sees a lot of college students who were ill–prepared for the area’s weather.
Bazin said, “A lot of those kids from Michigan Tech, they have no idea what they’re going to have in the wintertime, as far as what they need for winter, so they get a lot of students from Tech.”
Coats can be dropped off at the Angel Mission in Calumet during regular hours or at the vestibule at the church until October 28
