Self-guided 5K for wounded veterans
HARVEY– If you’re looking for motivation to start a new exercise program or freshen up your current routine, there’s a chance to do so while helping out our wounded warriors.
Anytime Fitness in Harvey is hosting a “Cardio for Camo” event in the month of September.
Participants can pledge to run or walk 3.1 miles in September to raise money for injured veterans. All money raised for the event will go to the Catch A Lift Fund, which is an non–profit organization that provides fitness scholarships and motivational support to wounded post 9-11 veterans.
“You know as a community together, it’s our job to help heal these combat wounded veterans that are coming back,” said Jamie Theyar, owner of Anytime Fitness in Harvey, “Fitness is such a great way to regroup, get your life back, destress, it’s therapy for all of us.”
Registration costs $25. The 5k can be completed anywhere, at the gym, in the office or your neighbor. You do not need live around Harvey to register and your out of state friends can join too.
To registrar, call anytime fitness at (906) 249-9800 or stop in Anytime Fitness in Harvey. For more information on the Catch A Lift Fund go here.
