Free Pictured Rocks Cruises this weekend

MUNISING — Free Pictured Rocks cruises are coming this weekend, but what’s the catch? You have to be a Yooper.

If you have proof that you’re an official Yooper, a free event is heading your way. The 4th annual Pictured Rocks Days in Munising is coming up this weekend, from June 10th thru the 12th. Another event will be happening at this time, the “Yooper’s Ride Free Days,” where a variety of activities will be offered with no charge.

During these days, the first 1,500 Yoopers on each day can take pictured rocks cruises for free and participate in various others activities, just across the street at the Pictured Rocks festival.

“It’s free admittance, bands, we have over 80 vendors, food, nature shows, kayaking demonstrations, children’s activities, all kinds of stuff” said Alger County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Kathy Reynolds.

In order to participate in the free Pictured Rocks cruise, you must have proof you are a resident of the U.P. by showing your driver’s license at the ticket booth. The first cruise will be taking off at 9 a.m. both days and the Pictured Rocks festival will start at 10 a.m. in downtown Munising.
