Open for business
MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula now has its first run specialty store.
Queen City Running Company opened their doors for business this morning. They are located next to Dead River Coffee in downtown Marquette. The store is owned by Marquette native Kevin Thomsen, who has worked in the shoe industry for about twenty years. He says his goal is to provide footwear that keeps people moving forward, allows them to live as they like, and helps them find their happy pace.
“We don’t have any, what we call run specialty stores in the U.P.,” said Queen City Running Company Owner Kevin Thomsen, “so we’re the first store that’s come along. We’re just here to promote everything healthy footwear basically; you don’t have to be a runner to come buy shoes from us. We just want to get everybody up and active. If you have some pain in your feet, legs, knees, try to take care of it.”
Queen City Running Company officially opened this morning. Thomsen said that the first day of business started well.
