Murder conviction upheld by higher court
LANSING — The Michigan State Court of Appeals has denied the request by Nima Nassiri to have his conviction of second degree murder overturned.
In November 2014, Nassiri was sentenced in Houghton County Circuit Court to 20 to 40 years in prison for the beating death of his wife, Senaz Nezami, which occured in December of the previous year.
In his appeal, Nassiri claimed several errors made by his attorney resulted in him not receiving a fair trial.
The Appeals Court disagreed, saying the defendant failed to prove any of the cited errors in the appeal.
