UPSET finds heroin & cocaine in narcotics bust

ATLANTIC MINE — An investigation by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) has resulted in the arrest of five people.

On Thursday, UPSET Detectives conducted a narcotics investigation which led them to a house on First Avenue in Atlantic Mine. During a search of the residence, detectives seized 50 individual packets of heroin, 1.5 ounces of crack cocaine and over $1,900 in cash.

Three of the suspects, identified as a 50-year-old man from Mount Morris, MI, a 25-year-old man from Flint, MI and a 31-year-old Atlantic Mine man, were all charged with delivery of heroin and possession with the intent to deliver heroin and crack cocaine. Two other suspects, a 28-year-old Atlantic Mine man and a 20-year-old woman were arrested for frequenting a drug house.

All five suspects were lodged at the Houghton County Jail. Their names won’t be released until they’re arraigned in Houghton County District Court.

Detectives from UPSET were assisted by the Michigan State Police Calumet Post and the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department.
