Date for acquisition of copper mine pushed back
WHITE PINE — It will be a little longer before a Canadian company finishes acquiring a Western U.P. copper mine.
Highland Copper Company says it has entered into an agreement with Copper Range Company to extend the deadline for the acquisition of the White Pine project until May 6th. Before closing the deal, Copper Range will have to be released from financial assurance and certain environmental obligations concerning the historical White Pine mine site located just south of the area Highland is currently exploring.
The timeline was extended to March 31st earlier this year. In addition to White Pine, Highland has also been exploring copper deposits near Wakefield and in the Keweenaw.
