Surfing Lake Superior in mid-November
MARQUETTE — With snow on the ground, going to the beach may be the last thing on your mind, let alone taking a dip.
Some locals did one better than that. These guys were out surfing this afternoon on Middle Bay off of Presque Isle in Marquette.
Even the chilly temperatures couldn’t intimidate them.
“Today’s a pretty normal day for us. It’s actually kind of calm, as crazy as that may seem, nice long sets, but it will get chilly if you’re out of the water,” said Caleb Cuneo, who was hitting the surf today, “It’s a euphoric feeling. You can’t get that anywhere else, it’s a special moment for everyone.”
Thank you, Shawn Malone… for grabbin' a few shots of me out there today. I wish I'd been able to get into that party…

Cuneo says he’s been surfing about three years.
Temperatures in the lake today were a chilly 44 degrees.
