ISHPEMING — A local library hosted a Halloween party today to give kids an opportunity to give their costumes a trial run.

Every Tuesday since the beginning of September has been reserved for Tot Tuesday at the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library. This week they held a special Halloween party for pre–schoolers. They could wear their costumes, hear a fun Halloween story and participate in a few activities.

Children’s Librarian Heather Lander says, “So today is our Tot Tuesday Halloween Party. We’re going to read stories, we’re going to do crafts, we’re going to sing songs, we’re going to do flannel boards and we’re going to do some group activities using scarves and do a song called ‘The Spooky Walk,’ which is a Halloween version of ‘The Bear Hunt,’ and we’ll have various activities on each table and snacks.”

For this story time Lander says she was able to read her all–time favorite Halloween story – Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson.

“I can’t possibly do a Halloween Story–Time without reading it, I just love the flow and rhyming,” Lander added, “it’s just so cute, but that one’s kind of, it does have a lesson about friendship and sticking together. It’s really cute. I love that one.”

Halloween and fall themed snacks were served.

Parents were even able to join in on the fun if they wanted.

The next event at the library is a Royal Story time with The Mermaid Princess on November 14th.
