Former Catholic school soon to house new health clinic
CALUMET — A new health clinic is coming to Calumet.
The building that was once the Sacred Heart Catholic School is now a professional office building home to several businesses. Soon it will be the location of a new U.P. Health System—Portage Clinic.
The health system recently purchased the property on US–41/Calumet Avenue near the 6th Street Extension in Calumet. A statement released by the hospital says the plans and timeline for construction of the new facility are currently under development. U.P. Health System CEO Jeff Lang says in the statement that they are excited about establishing a new clinic in Calumet and the improved medical services that the community will experience as a result.
Lang added that details pertaining to the clinic design, scope of the project and its timeline will be released as plans progress. ABC 10 / CW 5 spoke with a couple of the businesses here and neither were sure how, or if, the purchase of this property will affect them.
Only time will tell.
