Credit Union holds picnic for its members & non-members
NEGAUNEE — It was all about giving back to the community today for one U.P. Credit Union.
Honor Credit Union held an appreciation picnic at its branches in Negaunee, Marquette, and Gwinn. Staff members manned the grills and served up hot dogs, brats, chips, and pop to hungry people for four hours.
Honor Credit Union recently celebrated its first year in the Upper Peninsula. The picnic was free for members and non–members of the credit union.
“It’s been pretty good. We’re used to a big crowd and I think it’s grown a little bit this time. It’s a day out of the office. Everyone can see the faces that they normally don’t see,” said Kelsey Niemisto, public relations specialist for Honor Credit Union. “We have back office people just like everyone else does and you don’t see them and how hard they work. They’re coming out and you can put a name to a face, say hi and have a good time”
“We’ve got a year in row and everyone is getting used to the Honor being around. We’re still having our Appreciation Picnic, which has been going on for many, many years even back before we became Honor (Credit Union). We’re still continuing that tradition,” she added.
Honor Credit Union has more than 55,000 members across the state of Michigan.
