Finlandia University men’s basketball coach Mike O’Donnell is excited to announce commitments of Jorden Sodergren and Ryan Bain for the upcoming school year.

Sodergren, a Bark River-Harris graduate, averaged 12.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game as a combo guard for the Broncos. He earned second team all-conference honors this season.

“Jorden has a strong passion for the game, and his attitude reflects the type of culture we are trying to build within our program,” O’Donnell said. “I’ve talked with a few coaches from his league, and they all stressed how hard of a worker he is on the court.”

For Sodergren, it’s a dream come true to play NCAA basketball.

“College basketball has been a goal of mine since I got serious about the sport in the eighth grade,” he said. “I believe that my opportunity to play at Finlandia has been something I have worked for, and have earned with hard work. I have heard many good things about Finlandia both academically and athletically.”

Sodergren will enter Finlandia’s International School of Business to study management and entrepreneurship.

Bain comes to Finlandia after a standout career with the Watersmeet Nimrods where he averaged 13 points, five steals and 9.5 assists per game.

“Ryan is a pass-first true point guard who sees the floor extremely well,” O’Donnell said. “He is a good decision maker who takes care of the ball. He also has a nice pull-up jumper, and shoots the ball well from beyond the arc, an able scorer when needed.”

Bain, who earned first team honors in the Porcupine Mountain Conference this year, joins his bother Marcus Bain in the Lions’ organization.
