“Falling Rock Cafe”brewing up success
MUNISING — Fifty% of adults 18 and over drink coffee. Coffee sales come to $18 billion per year in the U.S.
It’s a sound that’s gets your nostrils flaring and mouth watering, freshly brewed java. When in Munising, locals and visitors love falling into this hot spot, The Falling Rock Cafe.
“I’ve been coming here for a couple of years and the coffee is always great, they have live music, my favorite coffee is the Grand Island Dark Roast, it’s fantastic,” says, coffee lover, Kelsey Hanson.
“I like the Munising Morning, the mild, yup, I do, I really like their coffee,” added Mary Smale, Michigan Native.
Eight varieties get brewed up daily.
Falling Rocks Cafe also sells food, and hand dipped ice cream. Attached they have a bookstore, with rare and out of print books as well as books by local authors. You can also find one of a kind jewelry and art created by local artists and if you’re in the mood, music performances and jam sessions.
“There is a lot of live music around here in the bars but there wasn’t any other places for families to come and listen to live music. We started this back in 2003 and now we are booked well in advance and we have musicians from all over the midwest and all over the country really,” continued Dwyer.
With free wi–fi, many come in to read, check emails and just hang with friends while having good coffee and fun conversation.
“It’s a good friendly place and Jeff and Nancy have always done a lot for the community and we like the Saturday night entertainment,” added Smale.
His wife Mary adds, “I enjoy the surroundings and sitting and having coffee, meeting up with friends.”
They have a coffee club where you get your own mug and discounted coffee every time you come in. They are up to 437 with just a few spaces left.
And although many start as customers…”We’ve been coming here for years, since they opened, continued Howard.”
Dwyer was happy to add, “We make friends with our customers and we have friends for life.”
