ABC 10 former interns graduate and join news team

MARQUETTE — Colleges and Universities across the nation are ramping up for Graduation season. Here at ABC10, we’re fortunate enough to have three employees graduating from Northern Michigan University. A terrific trio is joining our ABC 10 News Team.

Katlin Connin, Caleb Scanlon, and Mikenzie Frost were all interns at our station before they became employees. Their hard work and positive attitude proved that they were up to the task. These three young guns all graduate tomorrow.

“It’s been a rough road getting to graduation, but now that I’m finally here I’m really looking forward to it, mostly because I know I deserve to be there along with all the other graduates,” said Caleb. Caleb is a Negaunee native, who interned for us last fall.

The trio all agree that Northern’s ample opportunities for hands on experience is what drew them to the U–P. Each of them participated in Public Eye News, which is an entirely student–run news broadcast at the university.

“Well obviously it was a ton of fun! I made a lot of really great friends through that program, but it also gave me a chance to really test my skills and get a lot of hands on experience which I don’t think I would have had the opportunity to do at a different school,” Katlin said. Katlin comes from Chelsea, Michigan downstate and interned for us last summer. While they’re all excited to start their new careers, there are things our newest employees will miss about school.

Mikenzie’s hometown is Dearborn. She started her internship with us in January. Mikenzie is headed to Helena, Montana after graduation to be an Outdoor Reporter.

Katlin will be continuing as an anchor and Caleb will continue on as a reporter.
