NMU Alum wants Provost Position
MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University is in the final stages of hiring the person that will serve as the school’s chief academic officer.
NMU is down to a pair of candidates for the Provost slash Vice President of Academic Affairs position. Dr. Kerri Schuiling pitched her plans and ideas at her open forum session Wednesday afternoon.
Dr. Schuiling is no stranger to NMU. She is currently a professor and dean of the College of Health Sciences and Professional Studies. Schuiling told ABC Ten that the faculty at Northern is a big part of why she wants this job.
“I have wonderful faculty relationships and good colleagues that I’ve worked with on several projects,” said Schuiling. “They’re very open, welcoming, and interested in new ideas. They like to have good discourse around changes. We have students that work really hard in school and how hard the faculty works to support them in school is a wonderful environment to be a part of.”
Dr. Catherine Albrecht from Indiana University is the other finalist for the position. Dr. Paul Lang was the Vice President of Academic Affairs for a couple of years. Lang passed away earlier this year.
