Local organization gathers clothes for community youth

ISHPEMING — Kids grow up fast, and they outgrow their clothes even faster. That’s why two dedicated Ishpeming women are helping parents in the community.

Nicole Still and Joanna Nicholas started The Care Closet this past October to provide aide to families in need of clothing for their children at no cost. These two ladies have worked hard to gather new or lightly used shoes, shirts, pants and jackets for boys and girls in the community.

“We have received all of our donations just from families in the area, through our Facebook page, and people that we know,” said Co-Director Nicole Still, “all of the clothes that we have gotten have been in great condition, and it’s all here for everybody to take.”

At this time, The Care Closet is looking for storage totes and clothing racks. They are currently overstocked and urge those in need to pick some clothing. All you need to do to acquire some shoes or clothes for your child is to contact Nicole or Joanna over the phone or through their Facebook Page.

“We don’t have any qualifications at this point, just if your children need anything, we’re here to offer it for them. Even if it’s just a rough month and you are needing shoes for your son, feel free to give us a call.”
