BARAGA/KEEWENAW COUNTIES — Baraga and Keweenaw Counties will be receiving grants for home rehabilitation from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.

The two counties will receive a combined total of just over $182,000.

In Baraga County approximately $95,000 will be used to rehabilitate three owner–occupied homes in the villages of L’Anse and Baraga. In Keweenaw County nearly $87,000 will go toward rehabilitating three owner–occupied homes in Allouez Township. A rehabilitation project like this benefits the community as well as the home owner.

“The county’s housing mission is to provide for the social well–being of its residents and to improve property values and the aesthetic conditions within its boundaries,” Baraga County Clerk Wendy Goodreau said.

Both counties will assist homeowners with incomes at or below 80% of the area median income.
