Hot cocoa fundraiser for boy diagnosed with cancer
HOUGHTON — A sorority at Michigan Tech is holding a fundraiser to raise money for a young child who has been diagnosed with cancer.
Alpha Sigma Tau is holding a special hot chocolate fundraiser this week to raise money for Parker, a one-year-old boy who has been recently diagnosed with melanoma. Anyone can have a cup as long as they donate as much as they can.
Event organizer and Alpha Sigma Tau alumnae Tressa Alvarado has a very strong relationship with Parker’s family.
“Parker is the son of one of my really good friends that I graduated with. She’s helped me a lot with my son and when I found out her son had cancer, I jumped right on and really wanted to help,” she said.
Proceeds will help the family with medical expenses. Friday is the final day of the fundraiser and will take place from 2-5 p.m. in front of Fisher Hall.
