New sports bar opens in downtown Marquette
MARQUETTE — Sports fans have a new place in Marquette to watch their favorite teams play.
The 906 Sports Bar & Grill opened about a week and a half ago in the space that used to house the Blue Lounge in downtown Marquette. It offers views of Lake Superior, twelve flat screen TV’s, and games like darts and pool.
“We wanted to capitalize on the view,” The 906 Sports Bar & Grill manager Kurt Ghiardi said. “Mostly it was just a night atmosphere before. We were looking at options and the best option was sports bar for us. I have many years of experience in the sports bar industry, so we decided to put in a kitchen and go that route with it.”
The menu features items like burgers and sandwiches.
There is also a daily Happy Hour (Monday-Friday from 3-6 p.m.) with drink and food specials, and even food specials on the weekends (Saturday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.) for the game-day crowd.
“Football season’s coming around the corner,” Ghiardi said. “College football was on (Saturday), we had a great crowd all day Saturday watching the games. We are going to feature one game on stereo so we’ll have two speakers that will broadcast one game that most people are here to see.”
The 906 Sports Bar & Grill is open daily starting at 11 a.m. The kitchen says open until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturdays, and the bar is open until 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. The restaurant is accessible by both stairs and an elevator.
