Celebrate the Fourth of July in Lake Linden
Many Fourth of July festivals will be going on this weekend across the Upper Peninsula, including a big one in Lake Linden that kicks off Thursday night.
The Lake Linden Volunteer Fire Department organizes the event in the village park every year. Vendors will be open up shop at 6:30 Thursday evening, along with live music. A fireworks display will start a little later on around dusk.
Erik Miller, one of the organizers of the event, talked about how the community responds to the patriotic presentation. “Very, very good. They’re happy. Every year we get praise on how well the event goes and how everything comes together,” he said.
Festivities continue Friday, with the Independence Day parade at 9:30 a.m., as well as several activities and games for kids. The Children’s Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. and there will be a street dance at the Lakes Lounge from 6-10 p.m., along with more live music.
