Houghton, Hancock ready for Bridgefest
Two special events in the Copper Country are finally just around the corner.
Bridgefest Feast, formerly known as Seafood Fest, will be held at Kestner Park in conjunction with Bridgefest, which will take place along the Houghton waterfront.
Bridgefest Feast is the annual fundraiser for the Houghton Rotary Club and will feature food from local establishments including Fitzgerald’s, Habaneros, The Library and MTU Dining Services. Live entertainment is also on the schedule.
Rotarian Bill Mussellman says the joint relationship between the Houghton Rotary and the Bridgefest committee will improve the quality of both events.
“We’ve worked together throughout the past six to eight months in putting on this whole weekend-long event. It’s going to feature great bands, great food, the Bridgefest parade on Friday night and the antique car show down by the medical arts center. It’s going to be a huge, great event for the entire family,” he said.
Along with the parade, Bridgefest will feature the fireworks show, helicopter rides and local vendors lined up along the Houghton waterfront.
Mussellman said he expects a great turnout this year. “We’re hoping everyone comes out and really enjoys themselves. Weather looks pretty good so far and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for excellent weather.”
The two events will take place Friday and Saturday.
