Negaunee YMCA facility is moving to new home

The YMCA of Marquette County is closing its West End facility in Negaunee tonight in preparation for the move to its new home.

The West End ‘Y’ facility is moving into the former Range Bank building at Iron and Silver Streets. Until now, it’s been in the Negaunee Center building, also on Iron Street.

The current facility lacks showers and locker rooms. Many West End ‘Y’ members have been asking for those amenities for years.

The new space will be about twice the size of the old one. It includes a child care area, as well as rooms specifically set aside for youth activities and plenty more.

YMCA staff members are expecting the new facility to open this Sunday, June 1st. Until it does, West End ‘Y’ members can use the Marquette ‘Y’ at no charge.
