Chester Marcol will speak about mental illness
Author and Packers Hall of Fame kicker, Chester Marcol, will be the
speaker at the Keweenaw Area Chapter of National Alliance on Mental
Illness (NAMI) monthly meeting at 6 p.m. this evening.
The meeting will be held at the Institute, 900 W. Sharon Ave., in Houghton.
In his book “Alive and Kicking: My Journey Through Football, Addiction and Life”, Marcol provides a no-holds-barred look at his alcohol and substance abuse that cost him his
football career and family, and discusses his suicide attempt in 1986 that continues to affect his health to this day.
This meeting is open to the public for persons diagnosed with mental illness, their friends and family.
