Fundraiser for ‘Angel Amy’
The Houghton community is rallying around a Houghton woman who was injured last week when she was hit by a car.
Friends and co-workers of 31-year-old Amy Roberts call her ‘Angel Amy’.
She remains in critical condition at Marquette General Health System after being hit by a car last Thursday morning.
Amy has already undergone two brain surgeries.
She’s still in a medically-induced coma, but friends say she’s responded well to the surgeries and may be awakened later this week.
Amy has a husband and a 23–month-old son.
An effort to raise money for her and her family is underway.
Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital fitness coordinator Rick Vendlinski is organizing a 5–kilometer run or walk on New Year’s Eve.
The fundraiser will begin at 10 am at the Aspirus Keweenaw Rehab & Fitness Center in Laurium and will last until about noon.
To sign up, you can either show up on the day of the run or you can call the rehab center at 337–7000.
To follow Amy’s progress, the family asks that you visit Marquette General Health System’s website here.
Then sign up for CarePages and search for Amy Roberts to get updates or to send her a message.
