Snowfall Slowing Down

The worst is over in terms of snow, but Mother Nature should still have a bit left to dump on us.

Between Friday night and 7 this morning, the National Weather Service station in Negaunee Township received nearly 22 inches.

That’s according to NWS meteorologist Justin Titus, and that’s also the high snowfall amount for the U.P. among the places they’ve measured.

Marquette and Alger counties still have a lake effect snow advisory in place until 7 tomorrow morning.

For a change, the Keweenaw wasn’t hit badly — less than 10 inches in South Range, just outside Houghton, and less than 4 inches in Calumet.

If there’s any snow remaining, it won’t be like what we just saw.

Titus says the further snow should amount to, at most, 3 to 5 inches.

More high winds will still mean blowing snow.

Some areas had gusts above 50 miles an hour over the weekend.

And that should continue for a while.
