Former U.P. Congressman Dies
Bart Stupak’s predecessor as the U.P.’s voice in Congress has died.
Former Republican Congressman Bob Davis served in the House from 1979 to 1993.
The last thing he did before leaving Congress was create the Keweenaw National Historic Park.
He’d worked as a lobbyist in the Washington, D.C. area since then.
Davis was born in Marquette and went to NMU.
But he grew up in St. Ignace and ran a funeral home there before entering politics.
Davis recently suffered from kidney and heart failure.
He passed away this morning as a hospice center in Arlington, Virginia.
Bob Davis was 77 years old.
