Kewadin Woman Faces Tax Evasion Charges
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich -A Kewadin woman pleaded guilty to the willful failure to pay employment taxes to the IRS.
Jessica Marie Dowker faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Dowker and her husband owned Northshore Dock LLC.
Dowker, who was responsible for the company’s tax compliance, had the business deduct payroll taxes from its laborers’ wages but failed to file tax returns or remit the money to the IRS.
She will also pay $494,000 in restitution to the US Treasury.
The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division.
