Ishpeming Community Events Committee holds annual Festival of Treasures

ISHPEMING — This afternoon, the Ishpeming Community Events Committee held its annual Festival of Treasures. Ishpeming residents were able to enjoy a little sunshine, as local businesses took over Main Street to showcase their art, sell their food, and get in touch with the community.

“For local businesses, this is often a very good business day for us; but it’s not just that. It is also a chance for folks that are in Ishpeming, in the West End, in Marquette, or maybe visitors to discover what is in downtown Ishpeming. So, what I think this becomes is it’s not just a chance to sell, it’s a chance to shine.”

The Ishpeming Community Events Committee received a record high number of applications this year, but that didn’t stop other local vendors from participating indoors at the Odd Fellows Lodge.

“This is a craft show that the Odd Fellows let us use their hall to put on each individual vendor for their own business… It brings people in from out of town, and company visiting, and seeing new people, meeting new people, having a good time especially when the weather is nice.”

The festival has been a source of family fun for the past several years, and this year included a visit from the Ishpeming Fire Department, live music, a free car raffle, and even a pony ride.
