GWINN — The Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center in Gwinn hosted U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow to visit their recently renovated space.

Senator Stabenow is on a series of health care visits around Michigan to hear from patients, providers, and other stakeholders about their experiences, challenges and needs.

The Senator leads the efforts in Washington on funding for community health centers like this one.

“This is about quality health care for people. People being able to come and get affordable health care that they need for their children, for themselves and their families. We’ve seen an expansion here of the building, which is really wonderful to allow more people to be served in many, many different ways” said U.S. Senator, Debbie Stabenow.

The funding deadline for these health centers is September 30th, so she is working on a bi–partisan effort to extend the funding to make sure that these facilities around the U.P. can continue their operations.

Senator Debbie Stabenow will also be at Northern Michigan University tomorrow to deliver the graduation’s commencement address.
