Woman rescued two hours after falling in snow
NEGAUNEE — One woman was taken to the hospital after she was rescued from snow outside her home this morning.
At approximately 9:20 a.m., a Michigan State Police trooper from the Negaunee Post was dispatched to an address on Midway Drive for a well-being check. The department had received a call from a local business advising that an employee had not shown up for work this morning and they were unable to make contact with her. Officers were also told that it was highly unusual for the employee to miss work and not contact her employer.
When the trooper arrived at the employee’s residence, they found the 52 year-old female laying in the snow near her garage. The woman had fallen in the snow and was stuck between her garage and a large snow bank.
The trooper said that the woman was trapped in the snow for two hours and was suffering from exposure to the extreme cold. The trooper carried the woman into her residence, covered her with blankets and requested EMS.
She was transported to UPHS – Marquette for medical treatment.
