MAPS School Bus involved in two-car crash
MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to two car property damage crash between a car and a Marquette Area Public School Bus just after 4pm. on Wednesday.
That crash occurred on Brookton Road, West of S. Vandenboom Road in Marquette Township. The school bus did have 15 students on board at the time of the incident; however, there were no injuries to anyone involved.
Upon further investigation, it was found that the school bus was preparing to come to a stop and had its yellow overhead lights flashing. The driver of the car behind the bus, an 18-year-old Marquette woman, stated she hadn’t noticed the bus was coming to a stop, and attempted to apply the brakes, but was unable to stop in time. Her vehicle then struck the rear of the bus causing significant damage to the car, and little damage to the school bus.
The Marquette area woman was cited for careless driving, and released at the scene.
