Toys for Tots drops off over 500 toys to Ishpeming Salvation Army
ISHPEMING — With Christmas just over a week away, Toys for Tots organizations all over the country are dropping off their donations to help families in the community. Marquette County is no different.
Representatives from Toys for Tots of Marquette County dropped off over 500 toys worth more than $5,000 to the Ishpeming Salvation Army. This year’s toys were all purchased from local Wal-Mart and Shopko stores or collected from community supporters.
This is the biggest toy drop the Marquette County Toys for Tots organization has done so far.
“We always try to improve year after year, and more and more places requested toy donation boxes. It’s great,” said Tracey Tippett, the Toys for Tots coordinator of Marquette County. “We appreciate everything. Without the community’s support or help, we wouldn’t be able to do this.”
The toys will benefit families who may not be able to afford presents. Families who have pre-registered will be able to shop the selection at the Ishpeming Salvation Army or with St. Vincent de Paul in Marquette next Thursday, December 21st.
