UPSET investigation leads to arrest, children to Child Protective Services
ISHPEMING — On Monday, detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team conducted a warranted search on a residence in Ishpeming. UPSET received information that the homeowners of Lot 96 of the Sunny Side Estates were selling drugs, specifically cocaine.
As a result of the search, detectives seized approximately 16 grams of cocaine along with several loaded handguns and rifles. The 32 year-old female who resided at the residence was arrested for possession with the intent to deliver cocaine and four felony counts of endangering a child.
The living conditions in the residence were found to be a danger to the safety of the four children residing at the residence. They were taken into protective custody and released to Child Protective Services.
Additional arrests are pending in this investigation. U.P.S.E.T. was assisted by troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post, Northern Michigan University Public Safety and staff from the Department of Human Services.
