BARAGA COUNTY — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources announced today that Nelligan Lake Road in Baraga County will be closed for roughly three weeks for road improvements. The closure will go into effect October 2nd and is scheduled to be lifted on October 20th.

The road closure will be from the intersection of Keewaydin Lake Road north to the parking lot for Craig Lake State Park. During that time, a detour will be available for those seeking access to portions of Craig Lake State Park.

Scheduled improvements include replacing two failed metal culverts with a concrete box culvert and resurfacing critical portions of the road for improved access. This project, which is expected to cost roughly sixty thousand dollars, is being funded by the DNR Parks and Recreation Division’s Capital Outlay Fund.
