Local nursing home puts on carnival for residents
NEGAUNEE — The Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee held a carnival this afternoon to bring the community to the residents to have some fun.
The nursing center’s annual carnival picnic has many activities for the residents including music, games, and a dunk tank. Members of the community volunteer their time to make the carnival happen for the residents.
“Sometimes our residents can’t always get out into the community so we bring the community into them. Today we have farm animals, a dunk tank, lots of food, lots of fun,” said Activities Director, Rose Moffatt.
“To see people willing to donate their time, to come in and entertain, to bring their animals, it makes them feel that this is a day just for them and how important they really are not only in the community’s life but in our lives too,” added Assistant Activities Director, Amy Fraley.
Quality of life is top priority for the long term care facility and they say putting on a carnival brings out happiness in the residents and the community.
