MARQUETTE– Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter’s 12th annual Strut Your Mutt fundraiser is just about a month away and it will be the biggest dog party of the year.

The charity walk for homeless pets will take place on September 16th in Mattson Lower Harbor Park. Strut Your Mutt is UPAW’s biggest fundraising event of the year. Fundraisers like this are essential to the shelter and the funds raised will go towards the general operation of the shelter.

“It goes to helping our animals find loving homes, it goes towards vet care which is very expensive because we are a no kill shelter and we will do everything possible to find homes for these animals and get them the care they need ahead of time,” said Community Outreach Coordinator, Ann Brownell.

The more donations an individual raises, the more prizes will be offered. Pre–registering will enter your dog in a contest to become leader of the pack and the annual dog costume contest will also take place. Everyone is invited to participate in the event, even if you don’t have a dog. You can walk in memory of a dog or pet and if you don’t want to walk, there will be plenty of other activities.

All of the registration information can be found here.
