Construction company volunteers 7 roofs to community
ISHPEMING — Dan Perkins Construction Inc. is volunteering all labor and manufacturing to install a new roof on the pavilion at Al Quaal park.
The volunteers began working on the roof this morning and are expected to complete the project this evening. The pavilion was recently built by members of the St. Rocco’s and St. Anthony society for city purposes including Italian Fest this weekend. Dan Perkins Construction claims the roof will last for a minimum of 100 years. The company was asked by St Rocco’s to help them get the roof done before their annual Italian Fest.
“We have to have this completely ready by Thursday night because all the set up and everything is on Friday and obviously that is going to be no problem. This is a Cracker Jack group. They’re going to have everything done in one day. It’s impressive,” said Dan Perkins, President of Dan Perkins Construction Inc.
The roof is the first in a series of seven that the company is volunteering to construct for the community. The others will be built over life saving stations on M-28, along the beaches of Lake Superior, and on the Iron Ore Heritage trail in Ishpeming and Negaunee.
