CRYSTAL FALLS– A woman who went on trial in Iron County woman will spend the rest of her life in prison for a murder she committed with her husband.

Convicted murder Kelly Cochran was sentenced to life in prison without a chance of parole for murder this morning.

Cochran was found guilty of 1st degree murder aiding and abiding along with four other felony counts in late February after she lured her lover, Christopher Karl Regan, into her home for her husband to kill back in 2014.

Iron County Prosecutor Melissa Powell said this day was about the victim.

“All of the focus has been on Kelly Cochran and her rights and her experiences during the trial,” Powell said at the sentencing. “This is about Chris Regan today, this is about the type of man he was and this is about justice for Chris Regan.”

Cochran’s defense attorney Michael Scholke said that his client maintained her story and felt remorse for her role in Regan’s death.

“She respects the jury’s verdict, but certainly disagrees with it, she told her version of the events on the record,” Scholke said. “I’m sure she is disappointed that we’re here today, I’m sure she is saddened we’re here today; as I stated she is remorseful as well that we’re here today, it’s a very sad day.”

During the trial Cochran testified that she knew nothing about her husband’s plans to kill Regan and that he acted alone. Some members of the jury say they never believed her story.

Pat Butler, a juror on the case said “Listening, watching her expressions when questions were asked and just her demeanor was not very remorseful.”

According to Scholke, Cochran will likely file an appeal. However she will likely also face charges for the death of her husband Jason Cochran. According to a Hobart County Detective from Indiana, she will be extradited there after she is processed in Michigan.

Many people involved in the case say it affect them for the rest of their life.
