UPAWS Looks To “Empty The Shelters” With Special Adoption Event

GWINN, Mich – A state pet foundation is teaming up with a local animal shelter for the national “Empty The Shelters” event.

The BISSELL Pet Foundation and UPAWS are hosting its summer 2021 national Empty The Shelters adoption event starting today and ending July 11th.

The event helps pets find their forever homes through reduced adoption fees across the country.

“Shelters are getting full and we are really getting full with surrenders and strays. Events like this shine the limelight on our needs and shelter needs and it gets animals into loving homes,” said Ann Brownell, Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator for UPAWS. “We concentrate on adults. So adult dogs and adult cats, one year on up. You’re going to get a wonderful animal at a price that is discounted. So maybe you can afford to buy some extra goodies for the animals or such.”

During the event, adoption rates for dogs will be $25 and $5 for cats and small critters.

All pets come with their vaccinations spayed or neutered, microchipped and with a health check.
