Negaunee plans to enhance lighting on Iron Ore Heritage Trail
The Negaunee portion of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail is getting a little brighter.
The Negaunee City Council has approved Phase 1 in the City of Negaunee IOHT Lighting Enhancement Project, which will install 13 new lighting fixtures along the trail, along with 3000 feet of underground electrical conduit.
“This lighting project means a lot to the community,” said Negaunee City Manager Nate Heffron. “It’s going to open up a lot of opportunities for our residents and visitors alike to be able to take advantage of the trails in different ways they haven’t before, especially when it gets dark.”
The project is expected to begin this summer and will be completed between mid–September and early October of this year.
The construction will not obstruct usage of the trail.
