The Ishpeming Area Historical Society Opens For Summer
ISHPEMING, Mich – It’s always a historic occasion when the third floor of the Gossard is open for visitors.
The Ishpeming Area Historical Society is open for the season.
It’s open from 11 am to 2 pm every Friday.
There’s no doubt you’ll find a new historical piece of Ishpeming to cherish.
“We just cover Ishpeming and we do not cover mining. We just cover the city life and what went on, way back when. That’s important for a lot of people to learn,” said Karen Kasper, VP of the Ishpeming Area Historical Society. “What went on 100-150 years ago. This town was not just about mining although it was one of the major employers, but there were a lot of other things going on in this town and a lot of other people in this town who had nothing to do with mining.”
The historical society is hosting a garden tour on July 25th and a cemetery tour on August 3rd.
She said the society also needs people who can volunteer as well as donations.
If you would like to sign up for tours, volunteer or donate, contact them on Facebook or send them an email at ISHPhistoricalsociety@gmail.com.
