VFW Post 4573 Serves Up Pasties For The Community
Retired first sergeant Dennis Tonge is spending his time serving a U.P. classic dish to the community.
This past Tuesday, VFW Post 4573, had pasty day. With several fundraisers across the U.P. due to COVID-19 the pasties were flying out the door.
Dennis Tonge said, “Some like specialty things, that’s these are. Some like onions some like no onions. So we do some specialty for the people besides to help out.”
With 285 orders for pasties placed on Tuesday it has allowed post 4573 to stay open.
“It’s the only thing we got for the month to keep going. We keep these moving. It helps us to do any project we got. Otherwise we’d have to close the doors, if we didn’t have some of the projects going.”
The post is going to continue serving the community with a “Friday Night Fish Fry” every Friday night of October from 4 pm to 7 pm.
