Michigan has a new budget after the plan got a signature today from Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

The budget includes over $200 million for both education and health.

A majority of the increases in education are because of COVID-19 costs to the state while the health increases focus on assisting the elderly and supporting nursing homes.

The budget also includes $100 million for programs to attract businesses.

The 2021 budget goes into effect on October 1st which is the beginning of the 2021 fiscal year.
