MDOT reminds drivers to be safe as traffic deaths increase
The Michigan Department of Transportation is concerned with an increase in traffic and road worker deaths.
Since September, 730 people have died on Michigan roads.
This is an increase of 58 deaths compared to the same time last year. This also is at a time when drivers were on the road 20% less.
“We are deeply saddened by these recent road worker fatalities. These workers had families and friends who loved and will miss them immensely,” said a written statement from the State Transportation Director.
MDOT reminds drivers to slow down in work zones. The department is dedicated to protecting all workers who build and maintain Michigan’s roads.
