NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WBUP) — It took hundreds of dollars and 10 to 20-person volunteer teams working throughout the weekend to fix the damage at the Ishpeming Ski Club.

For over 130 years, the Ishpeming Ski Club has been training local kids and world-class athletes in ski jumping.

Unfortunately over the weekend, training took a back seat when volunteers had to repair recent damage.

In addition to the damage at the ski jump, at the cross-country ski trails someone shot up multiple signs and cut down trees across the trail.

The damage at both sites comes at a time when the ski club is low on funding.

The Ishpeming Ski Club is asking for donations to help continue providing opportunities for the athletes, parents, and local community.

The Negaunee Police Chief says the incidents are part of an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police department at (906) 475 – 4154.
