Wisconsin man arrested for destruction of property at Schoolcraft County Courthouse
MANISTIQUE — Manistique Public Safety issued a felony arrest warrant for a Wisconsin man following an investigation into the destruction of property that took place at the Schoolcraft County courthouse earlier this week.
38–year–old Jason Paul Arnold of Exeland, Wisconsin was taken into custody yesterday afternoon by the Sawyer/Washburn Sheriffs County Special Response Team after assistance was requested from the State of Wisconsin.
Arnold is charged with 1 count of Malicious destruction of personal property valued at $1,000 or more but less than $20,000, which is a felony that is punishable by up to 5 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine, or 3 times the amount of the destruction or injury, whichever is greater.
He also is charged with one count of reckless driving, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 93 days in jail and/or a $500 fine.
Arnold remains in the custody of the Sawyer County Sheriff’s department in Hayward, Wisconsin on a “no bond” provision, pending extradition proceedings which will remand him back to the State of Michigan.
The investigation into the events which occurred during the early morning hours on Wednesday is still underway, and no further details are being released at this time.
