UPAWS seeks community support with urgent needs
GWINN — Many are stocking up on cleaning products and other household items for themselves during the pandemic. Local animal shelter UPAWS is in urgent need of a list of items to maintain operations, and they’re reaching out to the community for help.
The shelter has created an Amazon wish list, detailing the items needed. Monetary gifts are also appreciated at this time.
UPAWS appreciates any contributions, but there are a few items the shelter is especially in need of in order to provide the best care possible to their animals.
“We do have some items on our wish list that are a higher priority right now,” said Ann Brownell, Volunteer and Community Outreach Coordinator. “Some of those items are hand sanitizer, which I know is hard to come by, paper towels, toilet paper, white vinegar, and 39–gallon garbage bags. We have a list on Amazon, but we also encourage folks to purchase locally if you would rather, or from any other place online too.”
UPAWS is still offering adoptions for those seriously interested by appointment only. The shelter is taking precautions and following official protocol to prevent the spread of COVID–19.
As always, UPAWS remains committed to providing the best care possible to the animals in the shelter. They are thankful for the community’s support all year long, but they are especially grateful during this challenging time.
“We are all in this together, and together we will make it through,” said Brownell. “So thank you very much to our community and our supporters; we could not do this without you. We appreciate your support and cooperation, and we hope that everyone remains healthy as we manage this pandemic.”
