UPDATE: survivor of accident that left two dead awakens

UPDATE — 17-year-old Hunter Pelon, who was fighting for her life in a Green Bay hospital, has woken up.

Hunter Pelon was transported to a hospital in Green Bay, after being found unconscious February 17th in a vehicle with two deceased males, 17–year–old Dylan Roberts and 17–year–old Christopher Turpeinen.

An update, posted on her GoFundMe page, reads, “A MIRACLE has happened!! While we were told the outcome was inevitable—Hunter is AWAKE today!!! Thank you to everyone for your help and support..Amber will be staying with Hunter and the donations are still needed.”

BARAGA COUNTY — Two teenagers have been pronounced dead at the scene of an accident that happened at the end of Silver Rd., in L’Anse Township.

The Baraga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a possible drunk driver at approximately 4:15 pm, February 17th, 2020. Upon arriving at the scene, the vehicle was running. Two male subjects were found to be deceased at the scene and one female was unconscious. She was taken out of the vehicle and life saving measures were initiated.

The female victim was transported to Baraga County Memorial Hospital by Bay Ambulance. She was later then transferred to a hospital in Green Bay. Her condition at this time is unknown.

The two male victims cause of death is unknown at this time. Asphyxiation is suspected. Autopsies are scheduled for the victims.

The victims of the crash are 17-year-old Dylan Roberts of L’Anse, 17-year-old Christopher Turpeinen of Pelkie, and 17-year-old Hunter Pelon of Baraga.

The case remains under investigation at this time. Assisting at the scene was Bay Ambulance and the Keweenaw Bay Tribal police.
